Ursula Bartolini is qualified in the Cecchetti Method (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) for classical ballet classes. Ursula is also a member of the Theatre Dance Association (TDA).
She has been teaching since 2002, teaching various dance syllabi, namely DASA, TDA and Cecchetti. Her studios have all taken part in shows, Eisteddfods, and classical ballet exams.
At present, Ursula teaches at Reddam House Durbanville and Somerset College once a week. All other days are spent at the main studio situated at the Playhouse Theatre in Somerset West. The main studio are encouraged to take part in annual dance workshops, exams, medal tests and parent demonstrations.
Ursula and her teaching colleague, Julie Symmonds, have been teaching together for years and now run the main studio together. Thus affording the dancers the best of two teachers!
Julie Symmonds is a registered Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Teacher and a member of the Theatre Dance Association (TDA) — Julie graduated from the University of Cape Town School of Dance after completing the 3 year Teachers Diploma. ( 1994-1996). She received the final year Teachers Award, Top Drama Student and the Sheila Chisholm Medal for Personal Achievement. Julie began her teaching career in 1997.
She also teaches Adult Tap dance classes weekly in Somerset West.
Julie completed the Teacher Training Workshop in New York City USA in 2015 for the incredible Dance for Parkinson’s Program (Dance for PD®).
Julie has been awarded the Fellowship bursary with Dance for PD® from the Stanley J. Wertheimer Fellowship Program. She will be returning to New York in October 2017 to complete the Advanced Teacher Training. Julie is the only South African who holds Fellowship Status and is the only Dance for PD® teacher in South Africa.
